Christmas in July Class Card Info

Hi there!

I have had a busy couple of weeks with work, classes and preparing for our Stamptacular (I cant believe this is next week!!!).  We are also looking for another house - and this is soooo frustrating.  Lots of really nice looking houses, but when you have a look around the local areas they are so different to the descriptions by estate agents!  Oh, well we'll have to just keep looking I suppose...

Anyway, here are some of the details of the cards we made on Saturday in the Christmas in July class.  I will post details of the rest of the cards soon.

This is the first card we made showing how to use the wheels and heat embossing.  Some of the ladies had never used either technique so the ohhhhs and ahhhhs were lovely to hear.

The Scandinavian Wheel was inked with Versamark and then rolled along the top and bottom of the card blank.

Then the tree image was inked in Versamark and stamped directly onto the card and a second image stamped onto a small scrap of card - we just focused on the flower part of the tree for the second image.  These were then heat embossed using white embossing powder.  The flower was totally covered in Chrystal Effects, covered in Dazzling Diamonds and then left to dry.

To finish off the card we cut out the flower and punched a hole in the centre.  A chrystal brad was pushed through the hole and it was then mounted it on a dimensional.  The card insert was also rolled with the wheel to give a professional finish.  So simple but really effective!

Christmas in July Class

Oh, its been a bit warm this weekend.  But not too warm to craft!!!

We had a fantastic time on Saturday in two classes, one in the morning and the second in the afternoon.   I was getting worried that no-one would come to the classes as the weather was so nice, but we had a great time.  Thanks for coming ladies - you really made my day.

I have been really busy making lots of cards for peoples birthdays too this weekend so this is just a quick post to show you the cards we made in the classes - I havent even had the time to do my ironing.  Heaven knows what I will be wearing for work in the morning!!!

Dashing Dasher

Whilst getting ready for my Christmas in July class this Saturday, I made this card using Dasher (How cute is he!!?).

Dasher was stamped in Versamark onto Real Red carstock and then Heat & Stick powder sprinkled over the stamped image before it dried.  This was then heated to melt the powder to give you a glue like substance.  You can then use glitter or other fine materials to stick securely to the card.  For this card I used some guilding flakes (like gold leaf).

The circles on the corners of the main image and the sentiment were stamped and heated in the same way.  I used the small star image from the 'Serene Snowflakes' and Holiday Greetings from 'Sincere Salutations'.

I used the 1/2" circle punch to remove the corners of the Dasher image and then punched out the small stars with the same punch.  These were then mounted onto Designer Series Paper (DSP) form the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin set and then again mounted onto more Real Red cardstock.

Although I like the effect with the flakes I think the next ones I make I will use white embossing powder as the flakes are difficult to use on the delicate star and sentiment images.  White embossing powder will give a finer more defined image.

For Father

Its the weekend, Yey...!

Not had much crafting time this week but spent a few hours yesterday playing with the most amazing crafters - Sara & Jo.
Jo was showing me & Sara how to use Copics and Promarkers which are alcohol based markers and the technique is totally different to how I have been used to colouring (no wonder I didnt get very good results - doh!).

I thought I would post a picy of a card I made recently using a lovely  (but retired) set called For Father. Its another card I found when getting ready for the craft fare last week - I thought I had put it on my blog but had forgotten about it.  It did get quite a few comments from people at the fair though!

I used Kraft cardstock to make a 6" square card blank and then inked and distressed the edges.

The dog and boot image was stamped onto Kraft cardstock and coloured in using Watercolour Wonder Crayons and the edges torn and distressed.  Then I did the unthinkable - screwed up the card!!! I know, I can see all you crafters out there curling up your toes, but trust me its very theraputic once you get your head around 'damaging' the paper.

The cardstock was smoothed out - but only a little - then I sponged over the creases with Soft Suede ink to highlight the texture.  This was mounted onto a peice of Soft Suede card which had been stamped with the En Francais background.  Again I had torn and distressed the edges. 

The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede onto Kraft cardstock and the edges torn/distressed.

Right off to prepare now for my next craft class. 

My Christmas in July Class is planned for next Saturday, 10th July and will be held in two sessions - one in the morning, one in the afternoon.  We are going to make four very different cards and a little pouch which can hold sweets or little gifts and can hang on a christmas tree! 

Now, dont you be thinking that its too early to start making those cards - If you make a few each month you will be ready for sending your cards in no time.  So come on get your skates on...!

Lovely as A Tree

Well, England are out of the cup so hopefully, we can start to get back to normal (you tell I am not a fooball fan!?).

I made this card for the craft fair at Hemsworth on Saturday and forgot to post it on my blog, but anyway - here it it.  Sorry about the quality of the photo - I am no David Bailey!!!

Its basically the same technique as the deer card I made a earlier in June here, but I used a tree from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set.

I couldnt decide on the sentiment so made it as a card for any occasion by just stamping letters from the Just Perfect Alphabet set, stamping each one out with a 1/2" circle punch.  Then I gently inked around each one with Bashful Blue ink, covered them in Chrystal Effects and when dry, mounted them on 3/4" Old Olive circles.

Stamp sets - Lovely as a Tree & Just Perfect Alphabet.
Inks- Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Chocolate Chip
Accessories - Chocolate Chip Ribbon, White Gel pen (highlights to the ground and water), brads, Chrystal Effects.
Tools - Brayer, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, sponge dubers, 1/2" and 3/4" circle punches.

Darling Dots and Change of Scenery

What do you think of the new design for my blog!?  I m really proud that I managed to do this - I am not at all technical - but whilst messing around with Blogger (the system used for my blog) this morning I decided to have a play and now I have some lovely images to 'pretty up' the background of my blog!!!

I have been busy planning for a craft fair this week and 'found' my Darling Dots set - I really should use this set more.  The presents image is from some card candy the lovely Sara gave me before Christmas!

The colours are from Earth Elements, so all look gorgeous together, SU are very clever in putting colours in to colour families which takes out so much of the hard work when putting colours together.

Brayering Class

As I promised on Sunday here are photos of some of the finished cards we made in the Brayering Class on Saturday.  The first one uses the resist technique where a versamark ink image is stamped onto white paper and then heat embossed with  clear embossing powder. 

We then brayered the top of the card in Bashful Blue ink and the bottom in Old Olive.  The rest of the shrubbery was created using a variety of images from the Autumn Days stamp set in Old Olive and Garden Green.

To create the next card we used different methods of masking to create the sun and the hills with some shadowing using sponge daubers.  The main brayering was done with So Saffron and the shadowing with Pumkin Pie.

The plants were stamped with Pumpkin Pie, but this time we used Pocket Silhouettes.  Again we masked off some of the hills to give an illusion of depth

 

I just had to do this card again - and the ladies loved this!  Unfortunatly we ran out of time to finish off the cards, but hopefully they will be able to practice and finish them off.  We did do samples using various other techniques and when I get the chance I will make those up to show more ideas for using the brayer.
