Girly Thank You

I have been playing with my brayer again - and glitter - yes, I know, I got covered in it as usual!!

To give a graduated effect I used three colours of reinkers and a few baby wipes to make my own ink pad then used my brayer to apply the ink to the card.  Once it had dried I sprayed the card with Platinum Shimmer Paint, diluted in some rubbing alcohol.

The butterfly is called 'All a Flutter' (from the Mini Catalogue) and was stamped in Elegant Eggplant onto the card and then their bodies and antennae glittered.

The flowers are from the Sticky Cuts Sweet sheets which are double sided adhesive die cut words and images which are perfect for use with glitter.  The small dots of glitter are actually flower centres from the adhesive sheets, covered in glitter.

To mount the sentiment I stamped the butterfly Thank You image from the Oval All stamp set onto Whisper White card and punched out using the Large Oval punch.  Then I punched out a Scalloped Oval and used a sponge dauber to apply dabs of Platinum Shimmer Paint to give me a lovely silvery layer of card to mount the sentiment onto.

I am not sure why the top flower looks like its gold - not that good at taking photos!  Its actually silver but it must be the flash from the camera.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.  Hope you have a great weekend - I am hoping to get some more crafting don't this weekend.  But I really must get some housework done, sob :-(

Ink - Reinkers, Elegant Eggplant

Touch Of Nature

spent a few hours yesterday with a lovely buch of crafters at a crop at St Saviours in High Green, Sheffield.  We got a bit noisy at times but it was great meeting everyone - thank you for such a warm welcome ladies!!!
Here are the cards I made using a stamp set called Touch of Nature.  Its one of those sets where you like a couple of images and think, mmm - do I get the set just for the butterfly and the flower?  Well, I have seen some gorgeous cards lately and decided to go for it - and I am really glad I did.

The detail on the images is absolutely stunning, and with the strong, vibrant colours of Mellon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry the images really 'pop' out.

I used the bird and fern image with the Soft Suede and Very Vanilla cardstock.  I thought this would make a really nice mans card if using the plain side of the double sided ribbon.

Recipe
Cardstock - Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede
Stamp sets - Touch of Nature, One of a Kind
Ink - Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede
Ribbon - Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede
Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend

Studio Sketches

This weather is so nice isnt it - I just love the sunshine.

Well, we have finally recieved details of the location of the Stampin' Up! European Convention - and I am such a giddy kipper!!!  Its going to be in Croydon, just outside London on the 5th and 6th November.  The hotel looks amazing and for two days it will be full to the rafters with crazed crafters (disguised as SU Demonstrators) from all over europe and the US.

Last years convention was held in Frankfurt, Germany and as I hadnt been to one before I made the mistake of thinking I wasnt bothered about going.  BIG mistake - I have regretted it ever since.  But, not this year!!!

Anyway, I have five months to wait until then, so I had bettter come back down to earth for a while.  Here are a few cards I made this week (in between traveling to Lincoln & Margate for work).

The stamp set is lovely - not the usual cutesy sort and its called Studio Sketches. I liked it as soon as it came into the Mini Catalogue, but only got round to getting it recently.

The distressing techniques are ones we used in Sara's Vintage Vogue Class a couple of weeks ago (she has another one planned for 3rd July!).

The text images are created by inking the En Francais backround stamp with Soft Suede ink on to Soft Suede card.

Recipe
Cardstock - Soft Suede, Kraft, Whisper White
Ink - Soft Suede
Stamp Sets - Studio Sketches, En Francais, Occassional Greetings, Bird on a Branch, Sincere Salutations
Accessories - Cutter Kit, Brads & Sponge Daubers, Watercolour Wonder Crayons.

Off back to do more crafting now - have a great weekend.

Classes

Just had a really busy day with two (yes, two) classes.

The first class was on a technique called Two Step Stamping.  Its a little difficult to explain without showing how it works but the stamps used overlay each other so you get multi coloured stamped images.

The set made using Greenhouse Garden is definatly my favourate.  I think its because the images are more delicate, here it is.

and here is a photo of the set of cards using the Rose is A Rose stamp set.

Recipe
Stamp Sets - A Rose is a Rose, Greenhouse Garden, Oval All
Ribbon - Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery
Ink - Pretty in Pink, Lovely Lilac, Pixie Pink, Almost Amethyst, Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery, Old Olive
Cardstock - Pretty in Pink, Lovely Lilac, Pixie Pink, Gable Green, Whisper White.
Punches - Large Oval, Scalloped Oval, Corner Rounder, Scalloped Border, Eyelet Border
Accessories and Equipment - Flowers/brads, Crop A Dile, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter,

The second class was for Absolute Beginners - we made four cards using various basic techniques like matting and layering and colouring with pastels, markers and watercolour wonder crayons.  I will post photos shortly.

Have a fab weekend - I am off now for a well earned drink!!!

May Scrapbooking

Hi there.  Its been quite a busy week at work but managed to do a cute little pull out scrapbook to put photos of my graduation in.

I am not academic at all so studying for my exams was really hard.  When I passed I just had to attend the ceremony and it was amazing day.  It was about 3 years ago now, but whilst looking at the photos it really doesnt seem that long ago.

The instructions to make the book are on the Splitcoast Stampers site here if you fancy having a go. Its nice and small and fits nicely in a handbag.

The inside has strips of card which is scored and folded to allow lots of additional pictures to be displayed.  To hold the card secure, ribbon bows keep everything in place.

Heres a photo of one side opened - this would look lovely as a brag book to show off photos of a new baby!

I used the Medium Jewellery Tag punch to cut out the little tags and then inked the edges with Elegant Eggplant ink.

Recipe
Cardstock - Lovely Lilac, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink - Elegant Eggplant
Stamp Set - Just Perfect Alphabet
Designer Series Paper - Tea Party
Accessories - Whisper White Satin Ribbon, Medium Jewellery Tag punch.
Non SU - Beer mats/coasters.

National Scrapbooking Day

Sorry this is a late post, I did a scrapbook page on Saturday and got a little sidetracked with other things so didnt finish my journalling off until this morning.

Here is Rossi, he was a beautiful cat.  I know some people dont like cats, but he was more like a dog, even going to the door to see who was visiting!  We got him when he was about 9 weeks old and I knew then he was going to be a heartbreaker...  and he was!

I wont go into detail but Rossi was only 16 months old when we had to make the 'hardest decision' - I am in tears writing this - we only had him for a short time but I still miss him every day. Anyway, enough of me rambling...

Here is a photo with the journalling tabs pulled out.

The photos were trimmed to the size I wanted, and then layers of Bravo Burgundy and So Saffron cardstock were trimmed to leave thin boarders around each photo.  I doodled lines using my markers in Bravo Burgundy on the So Saffron layers, trying to keep as close to the edge as possible.

I positioned the largest layer for each photo where I wanted them to sit on the Taken With Teal card and then secured them with snail adhesive.  Then I used my marker again to doodle around the shape left, directly onto the Taken with Teal card.

To create the background on the Taken With Teal card, I randomly stamped the flower and the spotty images from the Bird on a Branch stamp set in versamark ink.  Where there were gaps near the doodling, I put a sheet of paper over to protect the doodling and create a quick mask.

When I was happy with the effect I built up the backing layers and the photos, overlapping them in different ways.  Before securing each photo down, I made a pocket by leaving one edge without any adhesive.  This was to allow for a tabbed journal to be hidden behind each photo - you just pull the tab out to read the message.
