Projects from Saturdays Stamptacular

Hi everyone, I am back today with some photos of the projects I demonstrated at our Stamptacular event last Saturday.  The amazing Sara and wonderful Hazel were the other ladies demonstrating the rest of the projects.  These are the items I showed the ladies how to make.

The cone went down a storm and its made using just a 6"x6" square of Double sided paper which was heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  The stamps I used are scrummy - Gorgeous Grunge and Off the Grid.  Here is another photo of it.

The origami flower had a mixed reaction to be fair - I cant see a couple of the ladies making many more of these but they look so effective when they are done.

The last little project was a really simple diaper pouch which literally takes less than 5 minutes to make and would look lovely with a little bag of sweets inside.

Each of the projects uses only a 6" square of double sided paper but they look so impressive when they are done.

Now at the event, each lady received a pack of the papers we used for the project, Modern Medley DSP in their goody bags.  But we knew that some of the ladies wouldn't want to cut into the papers on the day so everyone got lots of sheets of DSP in different colours in their goody bags.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the day - but it was quite warm in the room!!!

We will be having another event soon, so bob back to find out more.

Team Training Swap

Hi everyone
we had our team training last Sunday and it was certainly a busy one!  I think there were about 16 of us all together and we aren't shy when it comes to having fun.  Im not quite sure if we managed to control everyone but thats what getting together is all about - FUN.

Here is the swap I made using the Card Base Pop 'n Cuts die.  Its not just for making card blanks - here I used it to make a gift card holder which will come in handy at Christmas time!!!

And can you see what I did - I used some DSP!!! yey.  Now, I do have a real problem cutting into our papers as they are so lovely.  But i had my brave head on and did it, and Im so proud of myself.

Here is a photo of the inside with a gift card inside and the belly band.

I made them using a couple of colourways - one with Very Vanilla as the base with Pumpkin Pie and the other with Whisper White and Daffodil Delight.  The DSP is called Quatrefancy and includes two clear window sheets with a beautiful white printed pattern - now, I just know I wont be able to use this!

Can you see the little four petal flower shapes on the front of the holder?  Well, there is a set of three tiny punches in the Annual Catalogue called Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and the four petal flower fits perfectly around some of the images on the DSP!

I cant take any credit for the gift card holder as I saw it on a US demonstrators website (Catherine Harwood - 321stamp.typepad.com).  Basically, you cut out the card base and score it on the long edge at 1", 3" and 7 1/2" and use sticky strip to hold the sides of the gift card holder in place.

Hope you have a great weekend, we are having our Summer Stamptacular tomorrow and I cant wait - we have a great time at these events and the projects will be stunning!

Rotherham Class

Hi everyone!  Hope you are enjoying this gorgeous weather? I certainly am.

Now, I do apologise for the photos on this post today, I dont have any where to take photos at the minute (and with the house the way it is, I wont have for a few weeks).  Anyway, here is the card we made at Wednesdays card class at The Keppels in Rotherham (hi ladies!).
Here is the inside.
We did much better on time this week (I was there over 3 hours last time!!!) and the ladies seemed to enjoy making the card and decorating the dresses.  Just to show them how they could adapt the card just by making a few changes, here is a sample of a double pop up card I made.

To be honest, it didn't take much longer to do the double pop up - and I love how it turned out.

Dont forget, we are taking bookings for our next all day Stamptaculay (on 27th July) and we have our Team Training event this Sunday so if you fancy coming to either event, just let me know and I will reserve you a place.

Have a brilliant weekend

Open House

I had a great time on Saturday at my open house - thank you for coming ladies, you made my day!!!

Here are some of the decorated goody bags I made everyone. They had lots of items inside - but I can't tell you what as some of my ladies are coming in the week to see the new goodies and I don't want to spoil the surprise! The bags are called bag a lopes as they are made by scoring and trimming normal envelopes (these were A4 sized ones).

I had so many things on display and sale boxes I forgot to leave space for a make and take but we managed eventually.

Here are some photos of the displays - the new In Colours are just gorgeous arnt they?

The bundles and DSP are great too.

I've been really good today too - I've prepped everything for my class on Wednesday at The Kepples in Rotherham. That's not like me - I'm normally still cutting and getting ready as I'm packing the car!

If you would like to come to the class just let me know on 07795 566727 and ill sort out the booking and directions.

Brayering Class

Oh, I am loving this warm weather even though I haven't been able to get out in it that much.

It was really warm yesterday at our class - thankfully it was in the morning so we didn't have the afternoon heat to contend with later in the day. I think everyone enjoyed it - and I had a BRILLIANT time.

We covered brayering in our technique class and as usual I ran over with the time but it was ok as I can do classes at home now - woo hoo! At the end I demonstrated more techniques with the brayer including 'bouncing brayering' a bit of a gamble as I hadn't tried it before but here is the finished sample I completed today.

The card is just glossy photo paper with pink pirouette, blushing bride and melon mambo inks used to create the design. I applied some silver dazzling details to add a bit of sparkle then punched out a large scalloped circle from some Silver Glimmer paper.

It didn't really 'fit' in with the design though so I put the punched circle into the punch again, aligning it with the first cut scalloped shape so instead of curved scallops I got what look a little like spikes.

The stamped image is from the new Label Love set which has a matching punch - Artisan Label Punch. Once I stamped the image and punched it out I mounted it with Chrystal Effects onto the Glimmer Paper, matted it onto a large circle of melon mambo card then adhered it to the brayered layer.

The card blank is an A6 piece of melon mambo card with a mat of whisper white card.

Oh, and just before I go here is a photo of the ladies crafting - hello Maria, Carol, Cheryl & my Mum, June!!!

Ok, enough of my whittering on, hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I'll be posting information about our upcoming events in the next day or too so bob back soon.

Change is Good

What do you think of the new colours to my blog?

As we are now in the new house I though I would take the opportunity to have a bit of an overhaul of things in general so here we go.  I have changed my blog header and thought it would be nice to make it a bit more personal so instead of I'm Feline Crafty its now Jan's Crafting Corner. Also, our stampers 10 club will have a new name - Whin Corner Crafters.

Its also time for change at Stampin' Up!  Here is a link to the new 2013 to 2014 catalogue - just click here.  There are lots of lovely new items inside including a magnetic platform for using in the Big Shot so no more post it notes to stop the thin metal dies from moving around.  Mine is due to come today and I am itching to have a play with it.  The new clay is amazing, soft and feather light so great for putting in the post on your handmade cards.

There are some offers on this month too (as if the excitement of the new catalogue isnt enough!).  The first is for 25% off some of the sentiment stamp sets

Sara's Birthday Card

It was my wonderful SU Mum, Sara's birthday recently and being the extremely well organised (not) person I am, I forgot to blog a photo of the card I made for her.

The hexagon folder is lovely and the coloured DSP was really quick to cut to size to fit inside the embossed borders.

I'm so glad that the folder and the paper doilies are still available in the new catalogue. If you would like a copy of the catalogue just contact me and I will post one to you. My club ladies should be getting their copies tomorrow and they are getting a bit giddy...

Just before I go, I have two places left on my brayering class this Saturday so if you would like to come please let me know by Wednesday and I will save you a place.

Also, I will be having a new catalogue open day on Saturday 13th July - so if you want to get a look at the new stuff, let me know ASAP.
